Technical Evaluation Project

UM. MOROCOCHA - Success Stories

Engineering and sustainability applied to advanced waste management in the mining industry. A technical approach to hazardousness declassification.

What did we do?

We carried out a comprehensive study for Compañía Minera Argentum S.A.C., focused on the technical and regulatory evaluation of cardboard packaging used for explosives in its mining operations.

Safety Data Sheet Review

Comprehensive analysis of chemical composition and reactivity declared in the original MSDS.

Field Sampling

Collection of representative samples in temporary storage areas to ensure data integrity.

Visual Inspection

Direct verification of explosive material traces and physical degradation conditions.

Laboratory technician inspecting industrial cardboard materials

Case Resolution

Based on scientific evidence and strict regulatory compliance.

Laboratory Analysis

Andeslab S.A.C. Certification

After a rigorous flammability and reactivity analysis conducted by Andeslab S.A.C., it was scientifically confirmed that the residual material does not present explosive properties. The technical evidence demonstrated that the cardboard only presents combustion but not detonation under thermal or mechanical stimuli.

Detonation Test: Negative Flammability: Under Control

Regulatory Framework

The waste has been classified as Non-Hazardous, allowing its final management through an EO-RS duly authorized by MINAM.

Compliance: 100% MINAM

Success Summary

This project provided the definitive technical support for an orderly, safe and environmentally responsible waste management. We managed to transform an operational uncertainty into a standardized process that reduces costs and environmental risks for Compañía Minera Argentum S.A.C.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these cardboard containers still hazardous after use?
No, the technical study demonstrated that they do not present explosiveness or remaining hazardous characteristics, allowing a more efficient management.
What made this conclusion possible?
The combination of a comprehensive background review, rigorous field sampling and analytical testing in an accredited laboratory.
How should they be managed in the end?
They must be managed by a Solid Waste Operating Company (EO-RS) authorized by MINAM, following non-hazardous waste protocols.
